ETT members, Friday December 2, is our Federation Day—Standing Strong for the Schools our Students Deserve. We are very excited to come together this year.
As you know, your union has won this day in our collective agreement as a time where teachers are released to attend ETT organized professional development activities. We have not been able to hold this day for the past two years due to the pandemic, and so it is especially important to come together.
This day is strategically important as well as we are in a bargaining year. Many of you are familiar with the fact that the Ford government has decreased spending per student in the public school system by $800 over the past three years. Ontario deserves an Education Minister and a government that commits to the common good, instead of attempting to divide and divert.
Federation Day is organized in an A.M. and P.M. format. This year, we will have the ability to come together either in-person at the Westin Harbor Castle or participate virtually via the Whova platform.
During the A.M. session (in-person and live streamed), there will be an amazing program of keynote speakers; the Honourable Murray Sinclair, Catherine Hernandez, Ricardo Tranjan and Marit Stiles. As well as entertainment from Shane Koyczan and Shakura S’Aida.
There will be a wide variety of workshops—from Centering Anti-Racist and Anti-Colonial Pedagogy to The Wonders of Brightspace in Kindergarten.

Morning session
The morning session, including keynote speakers and performers will be from 9:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m. (in-person and live streamed)
Workshops
All afternoon workshops will take place from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
Workshop registration will proceed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register immediately in order to secure your afternoon workshop preference. Workshops will fill up quickly.
Your afternoon workshop selection will be confirmed by email prior to December 2.
