Calling all Latino, Latina & Latinx ETT Members
Are you a Latino, Latina, or Latinx member of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto? We’re coming together to build community, connect, and find our collective voice within the union.
As Latino/Latina/Latinx educators, we also feel a responsibility to our community. We know that 1 in 4 Latino/Latina/Latinx students don’t finish High School, and more than half don’t go to College or University. We know about the income inequity our students face. As Elementary Teachers, we have a responsibility to set students up for success. The first step is connecting with each other and discussing how we can best support our students and advocate for an equitable public education system.
📅 Wednesday, June 24
🕐 Time: 4:30 to 6:30 pm (but arrive as you are able to)
📍 ETT Office — 4211 Yonge St., Suite 300
This is a space for us to:
- Build community with one another across schools and roles;
-
Share our union experiences and how we navigate union spaces;
- Talk through political issues that specifically affect Latino, Latina, and Latinx members and our communities;
- Discuss pressing union issues and campaigns and how we want to engage with them.
Whether you’ve been active in the union for years or are just getting involved, you belong here. Come as you are, bring a friend, and let’s start building something together!
