Apply to Attend the NABSE 2025 Conference – Empowering Excellence, Elevating Educators, Enriching Futures
The Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT) is proud to sponsor two members to attend the 53rd Annual National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) Conference, taking place December 10–14, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago (151 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois).
This year’s theme — “Empowering Excellence, Elevating Educators, Enriching Futures” — reflects NABSE’s ongoing commitment to advancing academic success for Black students and fostering excellence among Black educators through professional development, networking, and collective empowerment. The conference aligns closely with ETT’s mission, vision, and commitment to equity, anti-racism, and the success of all students.
Eligibility
Applicants must be active ETT members in good standing.
Applicants must not have previously attended a NABSE conference.
Preference will be given to:
Members who demonstrate strong alignment with ETT’s equity goals
Members of the ETT Anti-Racism Committee
Members with fewer than five years of experience in the union
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be selected based on:
Relevance to Conference Goals – Alignment with NABSE’s mission of supporting Black students and educators.
Commitment to Equity and Inclusion – Evidence of active engagement in equity or anti-racist initiatives.
Leadership Potential – Experience leading or supporting programs that advance anti-oppressive education.
Impact and Knowledge Sharing – A clear plan for sharing learnings with colleagues and the broader ETT community.
Expenses Covered
ETT will cover conference registration, airfare, airport transfers, single-occupancy accommodation, meals, and release time for the duration of the conference.

Interested members are invited to complete a short application by Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. explaining why they wish to attend and how they plan to share their learning upon return.
