At this time of year, members are typically focused on completing the Progress Report for Grades 1 – 8 and the Kindergarten Communication of Learning: Initial Observations. This process has been made all the more challenging by the circumstances with COVID-19 that we find ourselves.
As such, it is more important than ever that members review the following Professional Judgement guidelines from ETFO. These documents cover areas where professional judgment should be exercised during this process.
Teachers are further reminded that:
- the amount of data collected to-date this year will be reduced due to the interruptions to instructional time and the modified learning environment.
- the six-week rule regarding report card completion applies to the progress reports and the other two formal reporting periods.
- always use your professional judgement regarding the evidence you have to support your assessment.
