A provincial by-election is underway in Scarborough Southwest, with election day on September 3 and advance voting beginning this weekend.
ETFO’s Provincial Executive has endorsed Fatima Shaban, the NDP candidate in Scarborough Southwest, and ETT is mobilizing members to help in this important race.
We recognize that our membership represents many different political perspectives and that not every ETT member supports the NDP. This call to action is about something bigger than any one political party: defending public education and holding the Ford government accountable for its corruption and dismantling of public services.
For years, educators, students and families have experienced the consequences of provincial decisions that have left our schools struggling with larger classes, inadequate staffing and supports, and fewer resources to meet students’ needs.
Let’s send Doug Ford a message from Scarborough: our communities expect better for public education.
- ETT President Nigel Barriffe and Mary Fowler will be joining the campaign
- Canvass Date: Friday, August 28, at approximately 4:00 p.m. ETT members are invited to come out and canvass with us.
- We will meet at the Fatima Shaban Scarborough Southwest Campaign Office, 3154 Kingston Road, Scarborough and will then begin the canvass, after which we will go out for a social at a nearby restaurant.
Final details for the meeting and social afterward will be provided to everyone who registers via email.
ETT will help cover reasonable travel and food expenses for members participating in the canvass.
