- Parenting for Liberation – In Conversation with Trina Greene Brown – Join the Parent/Caregiver and Community Engagement Office in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement for Parenting for Liberation – In Conversation with Trina Greene Brown. We invite parents and caregivers who identify as Black and/or are raising Black children to engage in a powerful storytelling experience. We will explore ways to amplify Black children’s voices and nurture joyful Black families.Presenter: Trina Greene Brown is the creator of Parenting for Liberation, a virtual platform launched in 2016 featuring blogs and podcasts that aim to connect, inspire, and uplift Black parents. An activist and mother of two, she is also a member of the Resonance Network and the Move to End Violence. She was recently named the 2017 Black Feminist Rising by Black Women’s Blueprint and an Inspirational Parent in 2018 by CADRE. She is the author of Parenting for Liberation: A Guide for Raising Black Children.

- Late Night: A Jamaica Mi Come From!– Join a vibrant celebration of Jamaican culture! This Late-Night event will feature the rhythmic beats of reggae, dancehall, and ska, transporting attendees to the Caribbean. The evening promises lively performances, colourful decor and authentic Jamaican cuisine. Dance the night away while immersing yourself in the rich traditions and sounds that define Jamaica.This is a 19+ event.

- Organizing for Justice: Black Workers, Unions and Racial Equity– This Black History Month, the CLC is bringing together incredible Black labour leaders for a conversation that will explore critical issues facing Black workers in Canada today. On February 18, at 1 p.m. ET, join us online for an important discussion on: The challenges Black workers face, How unions are breaking down barriers for Black workers, and Why the fight for labour rights IS the fight for racial justice.

- Labour Community Services Black History Month Event – Colonialism is often thought to be part of a distant history, however it continues to play out today globally, and right here at home.Join Labour Community Services and Toronto Community Benefits Network as they host this year’s Black History Month panel, which will focus on the continued effects of colonialism (racism, systemic inequity and social injustice), and discuss what can be done to challenge the status quo.

- Family Day with Black Daddies Club – The Black Daddies Club and the AGO would like to invite you to a moment to celebrate Black Families. Hosted by Brandon Hay, MES (founder of Black Daddies Club) and Audrey Hudson, PhD (Richard and Elizabeth Currie Chief, Education and Programming). For this event, we invited Curator, Julie Crooks, to do a talk on the big ideas, art works and artists in the exhibition and we will also have Art Educators conduct a mini-art tour and making lesson geared towards families. As a thank you for participating, we would like to mail you a care package of art supplies to use in the session. Please include your mailing address in the zoom registration form by February 1, 2022 so we can ensure the packages get to your family on time. Limited quantity of 100. We hope you will join us!

The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement in collaboration with Early Years Department welcomes Black families and families raising Black children to a Pre-Kindergarten – Kindergarten Africentric 10th Year Anniversary Event.This event features a Caregiver & Keynote Workshop by Dr. Kerry-Ann Escayg along with interactive Africentric learning experiences for Black children aged 3 – 7 years.
