On Monday, November 2, 2020, at approximately 11:30 p.m., ETT members received a robocall advertising an ETT telephone town hall meeting that had previously occurred.
We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and confusion this erroneous call may have caused and for the late hour in which members received it.
We have reached out to our telephone town hall provider, which has reported the following:
- The data vendor they use was compromised as part of a hack targeting US election-related robocalls to disseminate disinformation.
- The hack employed a replay attack on the server which was partially successful, however security measures on the dialing server prevented a message swap so the original message was played.
- There was no data breach possible during the hack and no confidential data was compromised.
- The vendor has upgraded their security and resolved this vulnerability, such so that a hack can never happen again.
Once again, our most sincere apologies for this mistake and any disruption caused.
