To celebrate Black History Month, ETFO, in collaboration with artist Leone McComas, has produced a poster that encourages students and educators to challenge the traditional, colonialist world map projection, while incorporating Afrofuturist themes to highlight the limitless possibilities for young African Canadians.
The racial injustice witnessed this past year is not an anomaly. It’s part of a growing pattern of systemic white supremacy and racism that we as educators and unionists must confront and address.
ETT members are asked to share this poster and use ETFO’s Black History Month resources to celebrate this month and encourage Black studies and address anti-Black racism in their classrooms throughout the year.
