The Labour Education and Leadership Committee is inviting Beginning Teachers (teachers in their first 5 years) to:
Assessment for Learning: Revisiting strategies to improve student learning.
There are many teaching strategies that help to create equitable learning opportunities and outcomes for all students. Participants will learn efficient ways to gather evidence of student learning (exit cards, white boards, etc.) and how to adjust instruction (whole class, small group, conference) and provide feedback without taking home piles of work. In addition, we will explore how to co-create classroom norms and how to optimize collaborative learning to maximize student learning. This workshop is limited to 20 attendees.
Presenter:
Lori McCabe is in her 26th year in education and has spent the past 7 years in a coaching and coordinator role with AMDSB. She works closely with teachers to support the understanding and implementation of effective and equitable teaching practices, with a particular focus on strategies that enhance student learning. Her passion lies in assessment for learning, which she considers a powerful tool for both teachers and student growth.
