Memo from ETT Benefits Co-ordinator: Mothers Entitled to SEB

From Roz Geridis, ETT Benefits Co-ordinator

Recently, we had a BIG “win” with TDSB.

Since the revision to SEB (for birthing mothers), the board had assured ETT that SEB occurring over the holiday periods (winter, March, and summer breaks).

Recently it has come to ETT’s attention that the full SEB had not been paid to these members. A new mother who delivered her baby in the summer did not receive the full SEB top-up for week one.

ETT pursued the matter with the TDSB.

The TDSB recognized that this error was in place for a number of years. As a result, the TDSB sent the message below to all mothers who delivered babies during the winter, March and summer breaks since 2014 to 2018:

It was brought to our attention that you did not receive 100% of the salary for the waiting period of your SEB payment between school years 2014-2018, as the EI waiting period fell on a non-teaching period (March break, summer and winter break). This payment will be processed on December 13, 2018 pay date through direct deposit. Please check your pay and let us know if you have any questions. – Payroll Services
