Applications are invited for four ETT Health & Safety Inspector positions.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- ETT member and active ETFO member in good standing
- Health and Safety Certification Part 1
- Experience as an ETT Health and Safety Committee member, or Active in Health and Safety at ETFO, Provincial
Job Description
- Support and Advocacy for ETT members
- Take direction from ETT H & S Coordinator as well as ETT Executive
- Work with members within parameters of ETT priorities and ETT mobilizing initiatives
- Conduct workplace inspections
- Co-ordinate inspections with other worker groups
- Respond to emergency situations
- Investigate Critical Injuries (as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act)
- Respond to and advise on member concerns (Indoor Air Quality, asbestos, mold, violence, etc.)
- Represent ETT and bring forward relevant issues on TDSB Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Receive and respond to TDSB Health and Safety Concern Forms and TDSB Employee’s Report of Workplace Violent Incident Form
- Advise members on how to fill out the Employee’s Report of Workplace Violent Incident Form
- Advise teachers to fill out the Employee Report of Accident And Injury Form and to fill in the appropriate sections to begin a WSIB claim
- Attend Industrial Hygiene Testing as assigned by the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Manage and analyze data
- Arrange Health and Safety site contact training in conjunction with ETT Health and Safety Co-ordinator
- Follow-up issues raised during site inspections
- Collaborate to develop ETT Health and Safety Newsletters
- Other duties as required in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Communicate and liaise with ETT Executive Members on Health and Safety Issues and keep them informed
- Liaise with Principals, Family Team Leaders, TDSB Health and Safety Department and other TDSB staff
- Liaise with other unions
- Represent ETT members on risk reviews for violent students
- Attend ETT General Meetings
- Maintain membership on the Health and Safety Standing Committee and report monthly to the Health and Safety Standing Committee
